[sc34wg3] FW: WG3 meeting, Amsterdam, May 23-25

Even though I like Den Haag (and have a friend there who is the organist =
for
a church with a large historic pipe organ), I think this would stretch =
things
a bit.=20

NOTE: FEEDBACK REQUESTED!

We have received a very kind offer from Wolters Kluwer NL to host our
meetings on May 23-25. The offer is very tempting (see below), but...

Unfortunately the location is Den Haag rather than Amsterdam, which may
present problems for those attending the opening and closing plenaries, =
or
parts of the XTech conference.

Den Haag is about 30 minutes from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport by train, =
and
about 50 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal Station.

I will write back asking if there are any premises in Amsterdam that =
might be
used instead.

In the meantime, if holding the meeting in Den Haag rather than =
Amsterdam is
a show-stopper for you in terms of attending, please let me know as soon =
as
possible.

If I don't hear loud objections and I cannot find an alternative, I will
accept this offer.

Best regards,

Steve

Dear mr. Pepper,
Wolters Kluwer would like to host your meeting in our stylish and =
authentic
Kluwer's Uitgevershuis in Den Haag. This building hosted many meetings,
courses, exclusive conventions, it is nicely located next to our =
parlement's
building in the very attractive, historic center of the city. It takes =
about
20 minutes from Schiphol to Den Haag Center by train and then you can =
walk
(10 min) or take a taxi to this location.

(pictures).

If this agrees with you, we can organize lunch/drinks etc., and/or a =
guided
tour if that fits your program. I can provide you with the name of the
manager of the location to arrange everything, she can also suggest some =
nice
hotels nearby the building.

My only request is that you mention Wolters Kluwer in your invitation as =
the
host. And I think your suggestion is very nice for an interactive lunch. =
If
my proposal suits your Program, I suggest we further discuss these =
details.

With best regards,
Yvette van Braam Morris

Dear Barend Jan,

Thank you for your help. I look forward to hearing from Yvette. WG3 will =
be
very grateful if you can help. If we can show our gratitude in any, for
example by having an interactive lunch with people at WK who are =
interested
to find out more about Topic Maps, we are happy to do so.

Best regards,

Steve

| Dear Steve,
|=20
| I have discussed your request with our Communications Manager (Yvette=20
| van Braam Morris). She promised to contact you to see what Wolyers=20
| Kluwer can do for WG3.
|=20
| Kind regards,

|=20
| Hi Barend,
|=20
| I'm writing to you to enquire whether there would be any possibility=20
| of Wolters Kluwer providing meeting facilities for WG3 for our next=20
| meeting which takes place in Amsterdam in May.
|=20
| WG3, as you probably know, is the ISO committee that is responsible=20
| for Topic Maps. We meet in conjunction with the XTech conference on=20
| May 23-25, but at present we don't have anywhere to meet.
|=20
| I expect there will be 15-25 people altogether. I can supply more=20
| exact numbers closer to the time.
|=20
| Our meetings were hosted by Reed-Elsevier last year, so I thought it=20
| might be a good idea to ask Wolters Kluwer this year ;-)
|=20
| Best regards,
|=20
| Steve
