We here have exactly the same experiences (with AsTMa=). And all of
the TM authors here are also doing massive XML/XSLT work, so we
believe we mostly know what we are doing. We host 150+ maps on our
site.

I only want to add that TM authoring can be outsourced to first-year
students without even mentioning the dirty 3-letter word :-) And they
can even edit this with Notepad on Windows.
