The University of Minho has created a schema language for topic maps
called XTche that I think very few people are aware of. I, at least,
only learned of it about 10 minutes ago...

They presented a paper about it at XML 2004, which can be found at:

I don't have more to say about this yet, since I haven't had time to
read the paper yet.
